Draft Plans for the Public Consultation
A Section 73 TCPA 1990 Variation of Condition has been granted to repower the originally approved wind turbines. This permission has been commenced and two repowered turbines are currently operational. The replacement rotors are of a 3-blade design (Vestas V29), rather than the original 2-blade design. The approved repower wind turbine is a Vestas V29 (29 metre rotor) on a 25 metre tower. The total power achievable from the approved repowered windfarm is approximately 6 MW, modelled at approximately 14,410MWh annual production (with 22 no. V29 rotors installed). OFGEN estimates the typical UK home uses 2900KWh per year (which may be lower than the average Cornish home), in which case the approved repowered windfarm if developed out as permitted would produce enough electricity to supply approximately 4,968 typical houses. Using the higher OFGEN typical domestic consumption value (at 4300KWh per year), the approved windfarm would supply approximately 3350 homes.
